Se-Ma-For film foundation presents

Screening of animation movies produced by SE-MA-FOR FILM FOUNDATION and the meeting with MARTA PEJEK animation film artist, awarded on IFF ETIUDA&ANIMA 2011.

1st part:
SPONGE IDEAS (2011, 5'), Katarzyna Nalewajka & Paulina Szewczyk
The clip presents the story of two friends: a squirrel and an octopus. The squirrel is terrified of everything and has a tendency to get into trouble. However he can always count on his green friend who every time helps him in need. Suddenly the situation changes. It is the octopus who has a problem. Their friendship is put to the test...

TWO STEPS BEHIND... (2010, 8'), Paulina Majda, Produced by the Munk Studio
is a story of a boy who one day makes a decision to leave his cottage. He sets out on a journey to a strange town he is fascinated with. There he has unusual experiences. He gets involved in strange relations, not always friendly. In the end, he returns to the place that he came from.

story of a man who meets a young kissing couple in a dark staircase...

GOOD, BEAUTY AND TRUTH (2011, 6'),

„Good, Beauty and Truth” is a story about modern world where interest in good, beauty and truth is loses with cheap sensation, drama of explosions, shooting and other “more interesting” things. It’s a story of a man who carries an idealized vision of the world, standing for his ideals and trying to transfer it to others. A Good Man suffers defeat in his naïve fight for good. However, in the end, the a glimmer of hope arise…

UNDERLIFE (2010, 8'), Jarosław Konopka, Produced by the Munk Studio
It is a film inspired by “Lullaby” directed by Krzysztof Komeda, which employs metaphor to show the destructive influence that ancestors have on man and poses a question if we are able to liberate from it. It raises the universal issue of subconscious determinants which condition and define our lives.

Screening of MARTA PEJEK’S animation movies:
Marta Pajek
Born in 1982 in Kielce. She is a graduate of the Graphic Arts Department of Cracow’s Academy of Fine Arts. Her film study After Apples (2004) was presented at the Cracow Film Festival in 2004. Another film of hers – SLEEPINCORD was awarded at the IFF ETIUDA&ANIMA 2011.

SLEEPINCORD (2011, 13'), Marta Pajek

SLEEPINCORD - raises the issue of dream. Dream is the meeting point of the world of body and mind; it is intangible for us and hard to examine thoroughly. It happens inside but, at the same time, outside of us and, therefore, gives rise to anxiety. Dream takes us to the world where rules are variable and when we wake up we enter the world, which we can sometimes fully control, while occasionally “something” controls us and makes a decision for us. The real word, the rules of which we apparently know and which is seemingly predictable, appears to be similarly deprived of logic.

AFTER APPLES (2004, 5,20’)
An animated parable filled with oneiric poetry and surreal humour. Somewhere, God knows where, all the apples have already fallen and everything is submerged in dreams. In a small town, too, a mother is sleeping with her child. And when reason sleeps... A film made under the artistic supervision of Prof. Jerzy Kucia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.
