Rising Talents

Over forty photos taken by outstanding young artists from Central European countries form the exhibition New Wave Photography, held at the Wyspiański Pavilion by the Krakow Festival Office.

Peter Cibak from Slovakia will use his series Zygota to convince us that cyberspace isn’t just an alternative way of viewing reality. Svetoslav Ivanov from Bulgaria will present his triptych The Coast of Lost Thoughts, which captures lost dreams of travel, of unlimited knowledge, and reflections on the value of time and the warmth of home. Adéla Vosičková from the Czech Republic will bring a self-portrait created by gestures of other people. Monika Stacho from Slovakia will take us on a journey through her recollections of her parents’ home, while the project by the Hungarian artist Lili Zoe Ermezei is a result of her studies of the relationship between photographers and their models. Altogether there will be works by eleven artists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland, selected by United Creativity, organisers of the event.
Poland is represented by Katarzyna Niedźwiedzka and Aleksander Warzecha, graduates of Cracow School of Art and Fashion Design. Niedźwiedzka says about her work The Animal Called Human, “It’s a tale of a time when animals act more ‘human’ than humans themselves”. Warzecha’s cycle Asylum, created in a dilapidated and abandoned cement factory, is an attempt to illustrate the goings on in the minds of people with mental disorders.

United Creativity works in the promotion of rising talents from our region in Western Europe; the exhibition will be displayed in London in February. (Dorota Dziunikowska, Karnet magazine)
