Flood alert in Kraków
added: 2010.09.01
At 8:30am on 1 September, Jacek Majchrowski, the Mayor of Kraków, announced a flood alert across the city. On 2 September at 1pm Vistula River reached levels of 678cm; the flood wave is expected to surge between 2:00-4:00pm. Some flooding has affected Vistula Embankments (see attached photos) and the Lesisko district. The raised river levels and torrential rain are expected to cause traffic delays – so far ul. Podbipięty has been closed between the roundabout and ul. Marii Panny.
Kraków’s Municipal Infrastructure and Transport Office has organised a roster of flood duties. All information, including issue of sandbags, can be obtained 24h/day at tel. 12-616-8615.
The latest information is available at www.krakow.pl and at Kraków’s Public Information Bulletin page (www.bip.krakow.pl).
