Medieval knights and beautiful ladies-in-waiting, great burghers of Krakóws guilds – we are going to meet them again this summer in the centre of old Kraków - during the Knightly Meetings in the Kraków’s Barbican.
At the beginning the knights and accompanying them Ladies-in-waiting are going to walk from the Krzysztofory Palace, through the Main Square and the Floriańska Street to the courtyard of the Kraków’s „pan”. Inside the historic defence building from the end of the 15th century brave knights wearing replicas of the 15th century’s knightly plate armours are going to fight with each other using swords, axes, battle-axes and battle flails. This amazing historical and educational show will approach you the epoch of the Middle Ages and especially the knightly culture from the period of its greatest period – the times of the Battle of Grunewald.
Watching these small theatre plays you are going to get familiar with the code which famous knights used to follow. We couldn’t forget about attractions for everyone interested in customs of the epoch. Ladies in waiting wearing great costumes of those Times will be dancing to the accompaniment of the Medieval music. Moreover the subject of the mini shows in the Barbican also refers to everyday life of burghers and secrets of the Medieval crafts. The audience can join the plays participating in various events.
Very important points of the Knightly Meetings are art activities, contests with prizes and group plays arranged especially for the youngest fans. These events are conducted by Krzysztoforek and his younger sister Dorotka – characters from the museum’s magazine for children “Krzysztoforek”.
As well adults as kids and children from age of 7 are invited to the meetings in the Barbican by the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków and Polonia Celeberrima Foundation. We are all going to have a great fun!
