The huge collection of militaria kept here, second in Poland only to the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw, is housed in the Main Building of the Museum together with Polish and West European craftwork. Selected items of Polish art from the 19th and 20th centuries are displayed in an exhibition area of over 3000 sqaure metres (32,300 sqaure feet).
The rooms of the Main Building that are devoted to temporary exhibitions – in accordance with the mission of the museum – that present both works from the museum’s collection and others on loan from other museums and private collections. The one displayed in 2009 is entitled First Step... Towards a Collection of Western Contemporary Art, which is an exhibition of 40 works by 10 contemporary artists from the collection of Rafael Jablonka.
