Archdiocesan Museum / The Deanery

In 1953-1967, the two townhouses in Kanonicza Street that today are the seat of the Archdiocesan Museum of Kraków were one after another home to Father Karol Wojtyła. First, he was given lodging at No. 19, and later - by now in his capacity of bishop - at No. 21 (in the so-called Deanery).
Today, the museum displays objects related to the pope, and allows visitors into the room where Wojtyła lived. The complete and yet very modest furnishing of the room was complemented with his personal objects, including the professor's gown, the bishop's and the cardinal's cassocks, manuscripts, published books, fountain pens, and also Wojtyła's first skis from 1954. Besides the private objects, attention is also attracted by the exhibits donated to the museum by the pope himself.
