Church of Bernardine Nuns
Venue/Address:
ul. Poselska 21
Displayed in the altar of this 17th-century church is the painting of Saint Joseph with Jesus, famous for its graces. Karol Wojtyła frequently came here to pray.
This is how he remembered the place in his book Wstańcie, chodźmy!: "To me the veneration of Saint Joseph also connects to the experiences shared in Kraków. In Poselska Street, close to the Bishops' Palace, there are the Bernardine Sisters. In the church, devoted to this very Saint Joseph, they have a continued adoration of the Holy Sacrament. I went there whenever there was a moment free, and I prayed, and my eyes frequently wondered towards the very beautiful painting of the foster father of Jesus, strongly venerated in this church." (quoted from: John Paul II, Wstańcie, chodźmy!, Wydawnictwo św. Stanisława BM, Kraków 2004).
