Congregation of the Mission's Church

Venue/Address:

ul. Stradomska 4

The church of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) was built early in the 18th century to the design of a famous local architect from baroque times, Kacper Bażanka. He took his idea for the portico at the entrance to the church from Rome's San Andrea al Quirinale by Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini. To give this diminutive church the optical impression of greater size, the Kraków architect installed a system of mirror clusters inside the building. An interesting curiosity is the fact that the late-baroque façade was not completed until 1960 when the triangular gable was added.
