Anna Dymna (b. 1951)

Anna Dymna née Dziadyk (b. 20th July 1951 in Legnica) – Polish film and theatre actress. Hails from a family of Armenian origin. Has played nearly 250 theatrical and film roles. Her theatrical début was the role of Isia in Wyspiański’s The Wedding in 1969. A graduate of the Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Kraków (1973), she worked with the most eminent Polish directors, including Andrzej Wajda, Konrad Swinarski, Jerzy Hoffman, Izabella Cywińska, Kazimierz Kutz, Teresa Kotlarczyk, Tadeusz Konwicki, and Barbara Sass. Starred in numerous film productions including Nie ma mocnych (Take it Easy), Kochaj albo rzuć (Big Deal), Janosik, Królowa Bona (Queen Bona), Znachor (The Quack), Śmierć jak kromka chleba (Death as a Slice of Bread), Boża podszewka, and Duże zwierzę (Big Animal). In 1999, she was awarded the St Brother Albert’s Medal for her charitable activity and efforts for the disabled. In 2003, she established the Mimo Wszystko (Against the Odds) Foundation, which helps people with learning difficulties. She is the founding mother of the Albertiana National Festival of Theatre and Musical Works of Disabled Persons and of the Marek Grechuta Festival of the Enchanted Song for vocally gifted disabled people.
