Skałki Twardowskiego Park and Zakrzówek

The reservoir in Zakrzówek originated in 1990 after the limestone quarry pierced into water-bearing strata. It consists of two sections connected by a narrows. While its banks are among the favourite leisure spots for people from Kraków, bathing in the waters of Zakrzówek is forbidden. It is available only to divers who, at a depth of 7-21 m (23-69 ft), may see a Fiat 125p, a bus, a van, a few boats, and the former changing rooms for the quarry workers. The group of limestone boulders and cliffs rising along a few hundred metres is known as Skałki Twardowskiego – the Rocks of Twardowski the Magician. They were left over from another limestone quarry which operated until 1990. Now they are a popular training ground among Kraków’s rock climbers (topropers), as they abound with climbing routes with set anchors.
