Kraków’s largest sylvan park covers an area of 422 hectares (1042 acres), and envelops Sowiniec Hill with the Piłsudski Mound, the baroque Camaldolese Monastery on top of Silver Mountain – Srebrna Góra and the zoological garden. It includes nature reserves with picturesque rocks: Skałki Bielańskie and Przegorzalskie, and Skały Panieńskie. Eight walking trails (with a total length of 35 km (22 miles), one cycle path, one bridle track, and one cross-country skiing route have been waymarked within the forest. The Las Wolski Forest is a wildlife habitat: roe deer, badgers, hares, foxes, martens, squirrels, and numerous bird, reptile, and amphibian species are found. The tree stands consist mostly of beech, oak, and birch.
